This BMW i8 Vs M4 Drag Race Is Ridiculously Close

1:30 for actual drag race
Also M4 launched like sh*t, should’ve made the launch rpm lower using the cruise control speed dial on the steering wheel, too much wheel spin. M4 should’ve won.

definitely, control that wheel spin and that tenth of a second would be gone. usually a tenth in the 60’ equals three tenths in the 1/4

True. The M4 can do 0-60 in 3.8 and quarter mile in 12 flat, much as I love the i8 the M4 should have run away with it.

Am I the only one who noticed the i8’s rear-wheel spin right before the launch?

Someone correct me if im wrong but i think its either the driver brake boosting or its part of the launch control cause ive seen it on other vids about the i8

because the i8 is an axle-hybrid (like 918), the rear axle was driven by a three-pot turbo and 2 electric motors powered the front

1:55 trying so hard to copy the old Top Gear, it’s kind of pitiful.

if the M4 would have gotten of the line properly it would have been quicker, in a failed launch like that you lose a lot of time. also if you know bmw you would have known they would never make a car faster than their coupe-flagship.
for example the 1M should have been faster than the M3 E92, but it wasn’t because there should be no bmw faster than the current M3 (or M4 in this case).
“the plan was to make the twin turbo 6 inline feel like a n/a engine” also confused me for some time, but it was just a lame excuse to hide the fact that a small turbo6 car would always beat a big car with a small V8 (if both setups are just as aggresive, and the 1M setup was all but aggressive at least the tune wasn’t)

The i8 might have a disadvantage in horsepower, but has more torque. Horsepower can be calculated, but torque moves the car.

I am glad that you are promoting material that is worth watching, regardless the fact it has the TG brand, or any other brand. I saw this video on youtube an hour ago and the comment section was like pure, unadulterated cancer juice…. idiots complaining about the same things over and over. it’s llike this on every video top gear publishes. Frankly it doesen’t get any more pathetic than that….Thanks for posting here, hopefully it will be better..
