Bob Lutz Reckons Collectors Should Buy A Tesla Model S While They Still Can

From the sounds of it, Bob Lutz - whose lengthy career took in stints at BMW, Ford, Chrysler and General Motors - rather likes the Tesla Model S.

“A Model S, especially with the performance upgrades, is one of the fastest, best handling, best braking sedans that you could buy in the world today…The acceleration times will beat any $350,000 European exotic,” he told a recent forum for car collectors in Arizona. What he went on to say about Tesla as a company wasn’t quite as complimentary.

He mentioned the firm’s heavy losses and the ‘production hell’ issues that have blighted the Model 3, and expressed doubt about the Californian company’s future. In fact, he even went as far as saying, “Those of you who are interested in collector cars, may I suggest buying a Tesla Model S while they’re still available.”

Speaking to the LA Times following the event, Lutz said that his suggestion was “semi-serious.”

“Twenty-five years from now, [the Model S] will be remembered as the first really good-looking, fast electric car. People will say ‘Too bad they went broke,’” he added.

A gloomy prediction, but with the company’s market value currently sitting at nearly $60 billion, Tesla won’t be going anywhere just yet.

Everytime Tesla gets into a bit of trouble, CTzens flock to their keyboards saying “oh, this one’s for real guys, Tesla is going down this time, I swear!” And what happens? Like every other time before, Tesla will make it out alive.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over again, expecting a different result. Are you insane, CTzens

Before anyone gets mad, think about it this way. Chevrolet (Not the most popular brand in the world) has a market value of $88.4 Billion dollars so $60 billion in market terms, is not a lot.
