Brabham's New Track Car Has 740bhp And 1200kg Of Downforce
Reborn racecar maker Brabham has released another teaser ahead of the BT62’s full reveal, and now we know how mind-bendingly fast it’s going to be, too.
This track-only lightweight tips the scales dry at 972kg – 3kg lighter than the new Suzuki Swift Sport, and yet stuffed between the driver and rear wheels is a Brabham-badged, normally-aspirated 5.4-litre V8 with a casual 750 metric horsepower, or 740bhp.
It means the basic power-to-weight ratio is about 720bhp per tonne, which is enough to sound a little bit frightening. Extensive aerodynamic extras produce a colossal 1200kg of downforce, presumably at very high speed, while the stoppers are understandably carbon all round, with six-piston racing calipers at both ends.
Production will be limited to 70 cars at a price of £1 million plus options, plus taxes. The first deliveries will arrive later this year, we’re told. The full launch comes in a couple of weeks, immediately after which there’s a public showing, for which you can get tickets right here.

5.4L V8?
So a tuned Trinity?
If that car use a manual gearbox,in a another dimension it will be my daily, transform it into a road legal.Bingo.
740 bhp from a 5.4 L 8 cylinder piston pumper sounds like an amazing feat to me. Nowadays, it’s not common to see this power made from an engine this size without blowers or turbskis
this wouldn’t happen to be the top-secret car Ash Walsh was injured in a testing crash last october-ish would it?
