The Brabus 700 Is A Mercedes-AMG E63 With A Steroid Injection It Didn't Need
Currently in the TeamCT test garage, we have a Mercedes-AMG E63 S. And at no point have we thought: “Hmmmm, it could do with a little more power.” Far from it: it’s maddeningly, outrageously fast for anything with four wheels, let alone a circa two-tonne saloon car. And yet, you can - if you want - have a more powerful version.
The car in question is the 700, and it is - of course - the work of Brabus. It’ll be brought along to the Frankfurt Motor Show along with the new S65 Cabriolet-based Rocket 900, and it’s had the wick on its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 turned up, resulting in 691bhp and 700lb ft of torque.
This makes the 700 good for 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds, with the top speed unmoved at 186mph. For true autobahn heroics, Brabus is currently working a ‘Vmax Unit’ to raise that further.
To ensure the V8 can achieve maximum shoutiness, Brabus has fitted a full stainless steel exhaust system. But don’t worry, it’s an adjustable system with a quieter ‘coming home’ mode, should you want to avoid being deeply hated by your neighbours.
The standard car’s range of optional 20-inch wheels are clearly not spangly enough, as Brabus has seen fit to add a set of 21-inch rims. The exterior is finished off with a range of carbonfibre aero pieces, including a new front splitter, rear spoiler and rear diffuser.
On the inside, you’ll find two-tone black and red leather seats, with some rather tasty quilting going on. There are also lashings of Alcantara, as well as new aluminium gear shift paddles, pedals and door lock pins.
The most opulent bit? That’d be the backlit Brabus kickplate “which changes color in sync with the ambience lighting of the interior.” Yes, really.
Brabus offers the 700 as a complete car, and is also able to convert existing E63s. There’s no mention of price, but this is almost certainly one of those “if you have to ask” situations…

Jeremy Clarkson approves more power
Previous generation (W212) Brabus could do almost 850hp.
What happen to this..
Theyll probably make a 850 or 900 sooner or later
More power is always good, but I prefer a more subtle look
What about more power + subtle looks?
Me in a nutshell
When you want to compete on wagan but you also need 4 doors so you try to build your car on the autobahn
Since when did “didn’t need” ever apply to cars? Looking at you Demon.
talks about being excited for a 900 hp full-size cabriolet
talks about how a 700 hp medium size coupe is too powerful
still for 40 year olds
Why even include an engine bay picture? Oooo look at the beautiful plastic. I hate that this has become the trend.
