Brake-Grabbing Moto2 Guy Loses 2018 And 2019 Rides
After he outraged the bike racing world by grabbing the brake lever of rival Stefano Manzi’s Moto2 machine, there were calls for Romano Fenati to be permanently banned from the sport. Instead, MotoGP officials went with a two-race ban - on top of his disqualification from the San Marino Grand Prix. Although now, Fenati has effectively been kicked out of the sport.
On Monday Marinelli Snipers Team announced that it would be dropping the Italian for the remainder of the 2018 season, and shortly after, Forward Racing Team - Manzi’s current squad, it so happens - said it had cancelled his contract for 2019. The move came after Giovanni Castiglioni - boss of MV Agusta, a brand partnering with Forward next year - vowed that he would “oppose myself in every way to stop it [the deal with Fenati].”
In a statement, team owner Giovanni Cuzari had the following to say:
“After the disgraceful episode between Romano Fenati and Stefano Manzi, it is impossible for the team to maintain its planned collaboration with the rider from Ascoli for the 2019 season.
“Fenati’s behaviour is incompatible with the sporting values of the Forward Racing Team and of MV Agusta. For this reason, though we bitterly regret it, we are forced to cancel our project with Fenati.”
Fenati - whose actions were in retaliation to Manzi running him off track during a messy overtaking manoeuvre - posted his own statement. “I want to apologise to everyone who believed in me and all those who felt hurt by my actions,” he said.
In 2016 Fenati was kicked out of Valentino Rossi’s Sky Racing VR46 Moto3 team for apparent “behavioural issues,” while back in 2015 the rider made headlines for the wrong reasons by kicking Niklas Ajo during the Argentine GP warm-up lap, before switching his competitor’s bike off on the grid.

For me he deserved it. You cannot do actions like this, no matter how good you are
He wasn’t good enough to win the battle himself I guess, or just lazy… Either way bad sports, git gud
An absolute tool. Let us never speak of him again and may he fade into irrelevant obscurity.
Thats some real grade a scummy stuff
Road Rash: MotoGP edition….
although seriously, whats next?
baseball bats?
kicking other riders? oh wait he already did…..
People are getting all bent out of shape; I could see the outrage, but this just seems more entertaining than anything to me.
Endangering another person’s life is never entertaining and the outrage about his actions is entirely justified.
Seems like this wasn’t a one time issue, this is a chronic problem with this guy. He is going to have a very hard time getting another job. Good.
Based on past events he should be banned for life. Motorsport doesn’t need people like him.
In my opinion,he TOTALLY deserved it.What normal racer will do this?
I’d call this a serious lack of responsability and professionalism.
