Buy This B9 Audi RS4 With Heroic Mileage For £30k

Kudos to whoever put 100,000 miles on an Audi RS4 in six years, and now it could be yours for a bargain cost

Buying a brand-new B9 Audi RS4 is something we can very much get behind. Sure, a BMW M3 Touring may be sharper and the four-pot Mercedes-AMG C63 much more powerful, but the RS4’s performance is just as accessible in all conditions and comes in much cheaper too at £72,975.

It is, however quite an old car now, having gone on sale in 2017. That’s good for our trips to the classifieds now though, with plenty of early cars now tanking in cost compared with buying a brand-new B9. One in particular has stood out to us especially, though.

For a nice, round £30,000, you could have the keys to this one owner, 2018 B9 RS4 – albeit with the caveat that it’s covered a touch over 100,000 miles. That’s around 16,600 miles annually, or as Auto Trader handily points out, about 56,000 miles above the average used B9.

Fair play to that owner, and particularly their wallet with all of those fuel costs. They clearly had taste as well, we’re big fans of the subtle Daytona Grey-on-silver spec. Oh, and it’s been de-badged.

The interior does seem to be in need of a deep clean, but the condition of the leather upholstery looks pretty good for the distance covered. Similarly, the bodywork looks in good nick as well.

With that sort of mileage on it, you’d naturally be concerned about the state of the 2.9-litre V6, but it’s said the car has a full service history and we’d hazard a guess on those services undertaken at a main dealer considering it’s had only one owner from new. It’d be worth a call to check that for sure, though.

When it was factory fresh, the RS4 was capable of 0-62mph in four seconds flat and with a limited top speed of 155mph. Even if those horses have slowed down a little, it’ll still be an exceptionally rapid thing.

It’s worth noting the car did fail an MOT in September 2023 on exhaust emissions grounds, but that has been rectified. More concerning are the advisories for worn tyres and brake discs, which are another thing to bring up with the dealer. It may be offered at a bargain price already, but we’d look to haggle the inclusion of new discs and tyres if those haven’t already been replaced.

Obviously, the usual high-mileage German car caveats apply if something breaks, it’s going to be a spectacular bill. For such a low price though, is it worth braving? In case you’re tempted but not quite enough for this particular car, you’ll be delighted to know cars with around half the mileage are a dime-a-dozen around £40k.
