Calling All British Auto Journalists; We're Hiring!

I founded Car Throttle in a small University halls bedroom at the end of 2008. That year was a particularly busy one in my life; I had just finished school, started University in London and was coming off the back of a previous website sale which had fuelled my interest further in internet business. A passion for cars and a few role models in the auto world got me a-dreamin'...that I too could one day attend auto shows, be able to drive vehicles before the general public and become the biggest auto brand on the net.

Little did I know that the first two of those wishes would come true two and a half years later.

It's been an incredible journey so far which has seen us test drive and review over 40 vehicles both old and brand spanking new, close deals with some of the largest names in the UK and beyond, and gain a loyal following here on the site and on our various social media outlets. We've been invited to press events both in sometimes-sunny England and across the pond and I've been fortunate enough to get to know my team very well over the past couple of years. I really couldn't have put Car Throttle on the map without them.

But I'm still waiting on my third vision to come to fruition - becoming the number 1 car brand online and overthrowing the likes of Top Gear from the top perch which they've occupied for too long.

I have to admit that achieving this goal will be no easy feat and given the amount of competition on the web in competing for press vehicles, invites, views and attention, it probably won't be possible given the current focus and direction the site has got going for it. Whilst our presence in the US is strong, and we have a very loyal fanbase over there, it makes sense for me to start to grow our British team, particularly as I am now a full-time throttler!

In short, this is a call to all British auto enthusiasts, students, bloggers, writers, journalists and above all, dreamers. We are looking for you to join our team and to help us execute on a very exciting plan which we think will fling us to the top of the auto media madhouse.

Now, in our perfect world there are a few things on our journo wishlist that we would like you to have if you are thinking about applying for a job.

Do you?

  • Live in the UK?
  • Have a passion for all things four-wheeled?
  • Write coherently and able to string a decent sentence together; this is a writing job primarily?
  • Have some technical chops (ability to use Wordpress, Office, Google Apps)?
  • Have an interest in music, film and the arts?

Don't worry if you don't tick all of those boxes, we're open to any and all kinds of candidates so long as you gel well with Car Throttle and what we are about. And what can you expect in return I hear you ask...

The Perks

  • Attend events up and down the country as a member of the press
  • Test drive some of the latest and greatest cars
  • Be a part of something big
  • Get to work with a global team everyday
  • ...and get money to do all of the above!

If this sounds like something you would like to do, either part-time or full-time, then head over to our "Apply for a Job" page straight away, fill in the details and hit send. We'll do our best to get back to you within a reasonable time period. Don't forget, this great opportunity may not be around for very long, so if there's something inside you telling you to apply, it's probably best that you fill in the short form today, or regret it for the rest of your days!
