Car Mechanic Simulator Partners With Mercedes, Plus Steam Key Giveaway
The Car Mechanic Simulator brand just turned two years old, and it looks like just the beginning of a long, happy future for the game. Starting with Car Mechanic Simulator 2014, the game has added more features, cars and parts along the way. The original game steadily increased in popularity, giving incentive for the studio to move forward with a sequel. Turning to crowd funding on Kickstarter, PlayWay was able to quickly raise the capital for the game and five DLC packs we have today.
To celebrate 100 years of the Monroe suspension brand, PlayWay has released a free app on both the iTunes store and the Google Play store. It’s not a the typical CMS game, but a smaller version: like a bonus challenge with its own app.
In the game, your challenge is to replace a car’s shocks in less than 100 seconds. I chose to give it a chance despite the mixed reviews, and I found it amusing. For all the random games on my phone, this one does just fine. The sense of humour in the game came out just a few bolts into the removal, when I was told the bolt was rusted and would need to be sprayed with ‘Liquid Max’. After replacing the parts and throwing everything back together including the wheel, I was done and ready to beat my time on the next round. No, the app will not entertain you forever, but it’s a worthy little challenge. You’ll feel like you can actually do the repair this fast in real life, at least that’s what Monroe would want.
New DLC
Car Mechanic Simulator is already partnered with brands like Bosch, Delphi, Garrett, Monroe, Nissens, Optimnal, Rancho, Sealey, TRW and Walker. In a newly formed partnership, CMS 2015 will release the Mercedes-Benz DLC as the result of its first ever car manufacturer co-op. The new DLC comes in the form of two cars: the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing and the 560SEC.
The Gullwing was the fastest production car of its time and will add to the game a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine. It’s a classic car icon with its doors, speed and fuel injected motor. You can’t look at the 300SL without begging to touch it….and fix it….and mod it….
This brute will bring its hefty 5.5-litre V8 and 261bhp. It takes something mighty to power this beauty. The 560SEC looks like a tank, holds up like a brick and drives like a dream. Players will be able to buy, sell, repair and drive both cars in the new Mercedes-Benz DLC.
Starting now in the Steam Store, Car Mechanic Simulator 2015 will be 55 per cent off, and the Mercedes DLC will be 20 per cent off for one week only. Keep in mind that right now, the Gold Edition does not include the new Mercedes DLC because of an agreement between the two brands. In the future, PlayWay hopes to offer a flat rate package with future DLC included at no charge.
What's coming next?
PlayWay begs the questions on its Facebook page, “Do you want Barn Find DLC? What cars?”
This is something the team has been dreaming of creating for a long time, so it is a solid bet that it will be up and ready before we know it. If you’ve been following CMS 2015, you’ll know that the developers take their player feedback seriously when they post for input like this. Get your creative ideas out now, and hope to see some killer barn finds in the future. (I can’t wait!).
We wanted to know what else PlayWay has in mind and what the collaboration means for the game, so we asked these questions:
- It was about this time last year that the funds were raised for CMS2015. Is there any plan to move forward into a possible sequel for next year?
Of course, some work and ideas are in process, but we can’t talk about it for now - we want to make more of CMS15 until there is interest for it. For sure there will soon be new DLCs with more amazing content and top, luxury, official car brands.
- The Mercedes-Benz deal is a huge milestone for your brand. How does everyone involved in the game feel about the importance of this new deal?
Yes, this license agreement with Mercedes-Benz is a huge milestone for us. From the beginning of CMS2014 and later the 2015 edition - it was always the thing which was demanded most by our fans. It’s kind of the natural, obvious step to do, but a really big one, because there was never such content simulation in any video game. It wasn’t easy to make such a brand like Mercedes-Benz believe in us and our game.
We think that it might change how people look at cars - not only like a pretty vehicle, but also a complicated machine. They could look inside, play with it, learn about it. We think that there is a strong DIY style of life. Many people love cars and want to take them in their own hands like their parents and grandparents did, but now, they don’t have time, enough skill, a garage, or even a car. So our game could be the solution for them. And Mercedes-Benz brings CMS closer than ever to give an experience of a real car and a real brand.
Now it’s time to get those Steam Keys! We have 30 keys for the new Mercedes-Benz DLC just for you CTzens!
To be in with a chance of getting one of the 30 keys, tell us which Mercedes you’d like to get your hands on most and why. We’ll select winners are at random, and will contact them via the email provided in their CT account. You must own Car Mechanic Simulator 2015 (or go buy it now) in order to enjoy this DLC.

W109 300SEL 6.3
The Mercedes 600 Grosser, because who doesn’t want to be smothered with dictator level luxury….or have the loudest horn in the world?
560SEC and turn it into an AMG version. Full power, mean look and a black paintjob!
I’d like to get my hands on the OG Patent motorwagen
An R63 AMG, because I am crazy.
Dude, the Gullwing. I just want to strafe around it in the shop and look at it from every angle lol. To work on the one time fastest car? Kickass.
Barn finds would be kickass, too. A not too well known car. The Maluch needs a buddy. How about a Pontiac Fiero? I got to borrow one for a few days, it was so F’ing neato. It would look cool in-game. And working on a front wheel drive transverse tranny in the back would be a fun departure from the same old cars :)
But the biggest feature I want is for brand new body panels to come in primer color. Not magically match whatever’s on the body you attach it to.
Either an E-class wagon because I love wagons and need a solid somewhat reliable daily or that monsterous 6x6 because monster truck.
I’d choose the Mercedes C63 AMG Concept 358 built especially for the 2010 Australian International Motor Show. Firstly I think it’s the best looking for the Mercedes C63 line and I like the the ‘Jaffa’ Orange paint work. The 358 was made mainly to market the Performance Package Plus for the C63 which added a further 30bhp to the existing 450bhp. It’s also valued at $210,000AUD. Ouch
I would love the merc w201. But the cosworth version
Of course E190 EVO II
