Car Recoveries At The Dakar Rally Look Scary As Hell
Tom Coronel's Maxxis DakarTeam buggy hit trouble on stage three of the Dakar Rally and the recovery was far from smooth either!
Coronel’s buggy hit electrical problems and then got stuck in “fesh fesh” - a type of fine dust that can sometimes act like quicksand. Stranded at the side of a narrow stretch of road, his car got hit several times as he waited for someone to stop and give him a tow.
Skip to 1min 6sec for when the trouble starts and 2 min 16sec for the terrifying recovery, after someone stopped to help. He barely had time to sit down before they got moving and was having to put on his seatbelt and helmet while steering through the clouds of sand!
Comments
for the people who dont know it yet, Tom is now out of the race due to mechanical problems. He had a special kind of foam in his fueltank that prevents the vaporizing of fuel and that foam was breaking down and clogging the fuel filter.
Even worse because he is in a buggy with no front window and as small as an ATV, bikes, ATV and now these buggys are scarry as shi*! One must feel so insecure compared to the cars and gigantic trucks !If he was in a car it would have been so bad
and American idiots say it is difficult to drive on the dragstrip…yeah, sure
