The Carrera GT has a reputation of being a difficult beast to handle, as this Top Gear review demonstrates. Clarkson describes it as "the most exciting, the best looking, the most expensive and the fastest road-going Porsche ever", however it is a focused race car for the road. Combine its lightweight construction, race-derived V10 and 'brutal' clutch, and you have a car that makes you feel like you're "on a knife's edge".

Rodas, who also sadly lost his life in the incident, was no amateur behind the wheel. The 38-year-old was an experienced racer, but even in The Stig's hands the Carrera proved difficult to tame. After many attempts to complete a lap without spinning, Stig put in a time of 1:19.8 - a lap record at the time.

The Porsche Carrera GT proves, tragically, that it is one of the most formidable road-going racers in the world.
