Clarkson, Hammond And May Talk About Their 2017 Near-Death Experiences
The 8 December release for The Grand Tour’s second outing comes a little later in the year than series one, but we’re surprised it wasn’t delayed more.
We all know about Jeremy Clarkson’s bout of double pneumonia - which nearly killed him - and Richard Hammond’s fiery Rimac crash (below), but it turns out James May was hospitalised this year too. It was for a serious case of food poisoning rather than anything quite as scary as Clarkson and Hammond’s respective incidents, but still - it hasn’t been the best year for the trio, health-wise.
The Sunday Times posted up this video as part of an interview with the hosts, during which we have a particularly sobering description of the Rimac crash from Hammond. And a dash of humour from Clarkson, of course.
With all this in mind, we should be very glad indeed that The Grand Tour series two is still happening roughly on schedule. From what we’ve seen so far, it’ll more than make up for series one’s poorer moments…

They still hurl abuse at one another about their illness wherever they are! 😂 This is why I love these guys so much.
So are they showing the wreck?
James aged so much
I know it’s sad, the other two still look the same but James looks so different
It’s the haircut. He should’ve left it long. It kind of is his trademark.
Tw*t virus 😂
Does that mean James’ haircut is not coming on then?
Top ten near death experiences
I swear Clarkson is this close to death and it scares me.
