Classifieds' Car Of The Day: V8 Vauxhall Monaro Muscle Car
Don't be fooled by the griffin badge on the bonnet, this thing isn't really a Vauxhall. Like the VXR8, this car is a rebadged Australian Holden.
Over the years Holden has produced countless motors you could see as the Australian answer to the muscle car, and the Monaro is no different. You get a basic, tail-happy rear-wheel drive chassis, and a hefty GM LS1 V8 under the bonnet.
In this 5.7-litre form it's good for 328bhp, sending this Aussie brute from 0-60mph in 6 seconds, and on to a top speed of 165mph. Sure, that's hardly blistering pace these days, but they are quite tuneable, so there's always the option to squeeze out a bit more power.
This one is being sold by Monaro and VXR8 specialists Elite Car Co for £7495. It's done 81,000 miles and has a full service history. Best of all? It has a Wortec exhaust upgrade, so you can make the most of that brawny V8 soundtrack.
