Cody Loveland's Pikes Peak NSX Crashes In Fiery Fashion

Motorsport just can't seem to stop reminding us of its deadly nature. This time it's news from Pikes Peak...

This is what happens when you have a mechanical failure in the middle of a maximum attack run up Pikes Peak. And it ain’t pretty.

The mangled wreck you’re looking at was the Corvette-engined Honda NSX being driven by Cody Loveland, owner of American performance tuning outfit LoveFab Motorsport Fabrications. A rear upper control arm is said to have snapped, pinging the helpless Loveland into a wall of boulders at high speed. This is what the car used to look like.

Having been tossed unceremoniously out of the frying pan, Loveland duly stumbled into the fire. Literally, as the NSX burst into flames, Ferrari style. Fortunately, aside from some singed hair, Loveland was unharmed. You wouldn’t blame him if he had to dash off and change his pants, though.

The one-off car was in the middle of a practice run up the famous hill, and amazingly the LoveFab team has promised to do its best to rebuild it before the actual contest. We can’t help but think it might be a bit beyond rebuilding, but good luck to them.
