Compare The New Honda Civic Type R To The Current Car From Every Angle
Every time I walk up to ‘our’ Honda Civic Type R longtermer, I now find myself struck by just how tall and - to an extent - awkward it looks. Why? Because of the new Civic Type R prototype.
Revealed at the Paris Motor Show last week, it’s based on the new 10th-generation Civic hatchback, a car which is lower and wider than the standard ninth-gen hatch. Throw in an bodykit which is arguably even more aggressive than the current car’s, and you have something which looks meaner and more purposeful. The proportions look a little better, too - just check out these comparison images and you’ll see what we mean.
It is worth bearing in mind that the production model will be diluted ever-so-slightly, but given Honda’s track record of bringing out concepts and ‘prototypes’ that are near identical to the eventual showroom cars, don’t expect much to change.
The production version is expected to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March, and Honda has confirmed it’ll go on sale in the second half of 2017.

OMG the Focus RS has the sameish shape. Maybe its because THEYRE HATCHBACKS
Same, but different.
haters gonna hate…i think the civic looks amazing and it caters to its audience perfectly (no, not the ricers). New engine setup, more aerodynamic. Those who think this is an econobox, have no idea what the hot hatch segment is all about.
