Since we launched back in January 2009 we've had some pretty special milestones here at CarThrottle; our 100th commenter, our 50,000th visitor and the growing recognition that CarThrottle is one of the leading performance car websites emerging onto the automotive scene.

Since we launched back in January 2009 we've had some pretty special milestones here at CarThrottle; our 100th commenter, our 50,000th visitor and the growing recognition that CarThrottle is one of the leading performance car websites emerging onto the automotive scene.

Recently, our scale has changed and we've managed to score an offline promotion and competition that I'm sure some of you are going to jump at the chance of entering.

Every gamer on the planet has undoubtedly heard of the Need for Speed series. Created by Electronic Arts, the first game of the title was launched back in 1994 on the PC, PlayStation and SEGA Saturn and since then, the company has gone on to create a whopping 15 games all of which have sold by the bucketload. I myself have been a proud owner of NfS Underground, Most Wanted, Carbon and ProStreet.

In January 2009 (ironically when we launched), EA announced that it would be releasing a 16th title in the series, named Need For Speed: Shift. Developed by "Slightly Mad Studios", the realistic racing game is being aimed at hardcore gamers and focuses on simulation racing and realistic drifting rather than the arcade racing of previous titles in the series. It focuses less on street racing and more on simulating the driver experience and is being described as a racing game built by racers for racers.

Win 2 Tickets to Exclusive NYC Event

So recently I've been in touch with a team promoting NeedforSpeed online and it was quite a surprise when they sent me an email inviting me to an exclusive hands-on demo event of the new Shift game. This opportunity is exclusive to the top media and sites, and offers the first glimpses of Need For Speed Shift to a very small, hand-selected group of influential site editors and media.

As loyal CarThrottle readers, you too will have a chance to be amongst the top journalists and will get to be one of the first in the world to try out the game. I have 2 tickets to give away to 1 winner, so read below for details on how to enter.

How To Enter

Firstly, entrants to this short competition must be able to get to New York, USA for Thursday 27th August. Obviously this may rule out quite a few participants and it means that I too can't attend (bummer). Here are further details:

Venue: BLVDDate: Thursday 27th AugustTime: 5-10pmAddress: 199 Bowery, New York, NY, 10002Age: 18+

In order to enter this competition, please make sure that the above criteria apply to you, then all you need to do is leave a comment below stating your entry. I will then randomly pick a winner from the entrants and will get in touch with the winner via email, so please make sure you enter a functioning email address.

Please note that this competition will run until Tuesday 25th August and will end at 23:59 GMT so make sure you enter ASAP to be in with a chance of winning. Finally note that there will only be 1 winner so that the winning individual doesn't have to go alone to the event like a billy no-mates.

Good luck and may the best random entrant win!
