The Controversial New Rolls-Royce SUV Will Be Called Cullinan
The new and highly controversial Rolls-Royce SUV will be called the Cullinan, confirming what the rumour mill has been suggesting for some time.
Actually, the fact that it was called ‘Project Cullinan’ during its development was a bit of a giveaway, if we’re honest.
Ahead of the car’s reveal at the Geneva Motor Show next month, Rolls has released a series of pics of the car in camouflage, plus a new teaser. The company says it was named after the largest flawless diamond ever found, the 3106-carat Cullinan Diamond that was found in a South African mine in 1905.
Brace for much PR, because in a press release, the company CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said:
“It is the most fitting name for our extraordinary new product. Cullinan is a motor car of such clarity of purpose, such flawless quality and preciousness, and such presence that it recalibrates the scale and possibility of true luxury.
“Just like the Cullinan Diamond, the largest flawless diamond ever found, it emerges when it is perfect and exists above all others.”
Breathe; the PR barrage is done and dusted. We don’t have much detail to bring you yet, other than that it will send drive to all four wheels and use a big ol’ V12 at the front.
It’s said that Rolls wants the Cullinan to be almost as smooth off-road as it is on it, which is one hell of a challenge to take on. Later this year we might just find out for ourselves.

Can’t wait! I know it doesn’t ever go offroad.
Can someone tell me the controversy behind this. At this point, high end SUV’s are pretty much the norm for manufactures, I’m having a hard time thinking about a brand that doesn’t have an SUV on the market currently.
Giant V12 SUV! Because refuelling every 150 miles is the height of luxury!
If that is the measurement of luxury, nothing can beat the Lamborghini LM002!
The first time I ever stood in front of a lineup of rolls Royce cars was at an auto show and I was impressed by just how massive they are. Way more than you would think by seeing pictures. So this suv is probably going to be the size of a 3/4T pickup
So is it on a stand alone chassis like they promised or not, I didn’t watch the video
Yeah sure Rolls, everybody knows you are making this car for selling it to footballers and arab multimillionares
I almost feel ashamed as an Englishman…
It would’ve been a lot better if they made an estate.
I don’t like it. (Mic drop)
kinda ugly tho
