Dependable Duct Tape Helped The Alfa 4C Set A New Nurburgring Record

Alfa’s new coupe snatches 'prized' Nordschleife lap record for cars with up to 247bhp

Those Italians are at it again – god luv’em – whetting our appetite for the carbon-chassied 4C by lapping the Nordschleife in just 8min 04secs and snatching a record for cars up to 247bhp. Exciting stuff, apparently.

The 4C throws out 237bhp, is capable of 0-62mph in 4.5secs and tops out at 160mph. But it would appear it got more than a little help from a handy roll of duct tape to reduce drag. Looking at the pics, the ride height looks suspiciously low, too. But who are we to damage the Italians’ reputation for being resolutely honest, 100 per cent of the time...?

Sadly, we couldn't find any other 247bhp record-holders to to tell you of, which begs the question: does it even exist?

Joking aside, the achievement does put the pint-sized Alfa within touching distance of some distinguished opposition, including Bugatti's EB 110 SS (8min 01secs), Nissan's Skyline R33 GT-R (8min 02secs) and Lambo's Gallardo Spyder (8min 1secs).
