Did This Redneck Band Really Hijack A Google Maps Route?

Grizzly American country musicians claim to be the ultimate Street View trolls

Gunnar and the Grizzly Boys are a homegrown American country music band, straight outta Michigan. The Grizzly's latest video for song Could Be Me sees them jumping in their pickups and singing to Google along a snow-lined country lane. First impressions are that this is an incredible feat of organisation, but the band won't let us know how it was filmed "to protect our friends at Google who bent the rules to make this video possible."

Sounds exciting, doesn't it? Well, the more cynical among us here at CT aren't convinced. Firstly, the organisation involved would make this very difficult (particularly the timing of the cue cards) even with the help of Google staff. Secondly, Google Maps blurs the faces of people captured by its camera cars, so why don't these guys get the pixel treatment?

Either way it's a brilliantly creative music video, and we'd love to be proven wrong. What's your verdict?
