DIY Hero Builds Fully Functioning Kitchen In The Back Of A Tiny Electric Car
This Kei car-derived Peugeot iOn has its own mini kitchen, featuring a working hob, tap and fridge
The Peugeot iOn is not a particularly good car. It’s a badge-engineered version of the electric Mitsubishi i-MiEV, and while not entirely without merit, the car was hampered by a short range and an absurdly high price tag.
But this is no ordinary iOn: it’s owned by an enterprising New Zealander who once converted an old Mitsubishi Tredia into a full EV, and chronicled the whole build on YouTube. Now he has a purpose-built electric vehicle, he’s not done tinkering.
Case in point? Here’s a very informative video about how he built a fully functioning mini kitchen into the back of the iOn. It even has a working tap, and a fridge!

I wonder where he got the inspiration
“I had beans this morning?”
“What sort of beans?”
“Did you know they were baked?”
Clarkson: What’s for dinner?
Hammond: Beans.
At least we know what would be the future mechanical breakdown of this Peugeot
probably the only good use of a peugeot iON ive ever seen
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ah, but can you cook bacon and eggs on its exhaust?
Maybe if he fires up the diesel heater (he has mounted one but it’s now unmounted)
I’ve got my ion you 👌🏾
I instantly get the Dutch “Hornbach” commercial in my head… Guy talking about their project Things get thrown in their face when they say the word “project” “praat niet over een project als je er niet voor naar Hornbach gaat” (roughly translated:”don’t talk about a project if you won’t go to Hornbach for it”.
The same comercials play here in germany 😅

Hehe, that’s pretty cool
Open flame inside a car and cooking behind those nice fabric backseats really looks like an inovative idea! Thanks CarThrottle!
absolutely incredible!
though, I have one thing.
why would you need to refrigerate bananas??
Refrigerating your bananas after it had ripened would slow down the spoilage process
So is this his next build for a Smart ForTwo?
