The DMC 190E AMG Evolution Extrem Is Another Restomod Mercedes Cosworth

Following on from the HWA Evo, DMC has had a go at resto-modding the Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 ‘Cosworth’

Restomod Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 ‘Cosworths’ are like busses, it seems. Not all that long after the reveal of the stunning HWA Evo, DMC (no, not that one) has had a crack at a modern/retro modification job.

Like the HWA effort, the DMC 190E AMG Evolution Extrem is clearly intended to look like the Evo 2 homologation special, but it’s not as comprehensive a transformation. What you’re looking at is an aesthetic job - if you want a modernised engine and chassis, you’ll need to go elsewhere. As standard, the 2.5-16 features, as the name implies, a 2.5-litre, 16-valve engine rocking four cylinders.

What you do get is a body kit using what DMC refers to as “authentic molds from the 1990s,” but with top-notch carbon fibre. “This blend results in a stunning transformation that honours the original while pushing the boundaries of modern automotive design,” DMC says.

It includes front and rear bumpers with a splitter for the former, side panels, Gullideckel wheels which evoke the originals in a more modern context, and yes, a ruddy-great rear wing.

The whole kit costs $39,000, which works out to about £31,500 at current exchange rates. The individual prices are $19,900 (£15,750) for the body kit, $1,990 (£1,575) for smoked front/rear light clusters, and $9,990 (just under £8,000) for the wheels. Should you want an overhauled interior too, that’ll be $29,900 (£23,750).

If you have a lot of money to burn, you can buy an off-the-peg, fully customised version in either left or right-hand drive from one of DMC’s dealers. We do mean a lot of money, though - that option weighs in at $299,990, which is about £235,000.

Then again, that’s a drop in the ocean compared to the £730,000 HWA Evo.
