Albeit 700 bucks is super cheap for a turbo, that’s like buying 1400 slimjims at my local Ritaid
Now thats proper thinking
3,360 if you get the box of 120.
Can we just use slimjims as a unit of measurement from now on?
Now china turbos are a thing? What have we done wrong?
I know someone with a 70’s nova using a junkyard LS motor with two Chinese made turbochargers. That thing hauls ass, and yet, it hasn’t blown up in 20k miles…..yet
They work. Are they reliable? No. But for a budget racecar, they’re decent.
Well for a budget racer who cant afford a second engine given that the turbo bearings and center shaft is almost garentee to explode the budget turbo is a very bad idea.
Because nothing says “Im on a tight budget” like having to rebuild your engine from scratch every couple thousand km.
Did somebody say haggard?
Yes, but only if they give good feedback…
Ok the door’s over here? I’ll see myself out
Got the turbo.
Now all I need is a racecar.
o sh*t waddup?
For 700$ get yourself a set of used vortech 2.02 cylinder heads, A nice comp cam , an aluminum long runner intake and long tube headers. You wont make quite as much power but it will fit under your hood and your motor will last for years not weeks like this turbo motor will. after doing all that save some money up for full roller 1.6 or 1.7 ratio rockers and upgraded valve springs. this will help quite a bit. get a good holley hp carb and go get it dino tuned. again you won’t be making 550hp but you will be able to drive it every day without worry of your turbo grenade going off and losing your whole motor.
Exactly, an engine is an investment that should last, especially with a tight budget
Most of car throttle worships boost, then there are the guys that wanna buy solid lifters from a speed shop haha
I’ve seen cheap turbos first hand. Look good until you see a turbo from a reputable company. Save your money, buy sensibly, buy once.
Dunno just ask haggard garage
