Ducati's New V4 Superbike Sounds Incredible
With the reveal of Ducati's new V4-powered superbike just days away, why not get a little preview with this testing footage?
A couple of months ago, Ducati dropped a massive bombshell by declaring the impending end of its V-twin sports bikes. It breaks a tradition that goes back decades, but have a quick watch of the video above, and we reckon you might just be OK with what the Bologna bike firm has in mind for the first installment in its new era of superbikes.
Yes, this testing footage may be potato-spec, but the sound is the important thing here. And Ducati’s new MotoGP-inspired V4 belts out a rather brilliant din, don’t you think?
It serves as a nice little taster ahead of the engine’s full reveal, which Ducati has announced will be happening at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on 7 September. We can’t wait to see what’s been cooked up…

So car companies are downsizing and bike companies are upsizing…
No. Wrong. This engine is a 1000cc, which is smaller than the current one from the Panigale (about 1299cc for the final edition). Twice more cylinders now, but they are smaller than the two big from the Panigale. Power will probably revolve around 230hp (~210 for the Panigale Final Edition)
My turds are purple
I thought this app was called ‘CAR’ throttle for a reason
Dont like it? Dont read the posts. Last i checked admins are more than qualified to choose what goes on car throttle and what doesnt.
This sounds like a Big bang Yamaha engine now. No deep throaty sound, no deep burbles. Such a shame Ducati.
Dunno, not really keen on it.
Why don’t we have v4 cars? Why does it have to be inline 4?!
Ford used to make v4 cars so did AMC and Lancia. That was back in the 1900’s. Currently no car manufactures make v4 cars so the engine’s are hard to find and maintain
Porsche 919 had a hybrid V4, the V4 made about 600bhp and the hybrid system made 400
Anyone prefer this sound over the current F1 sounds?
It sounds like it revs to 7-8k, what tf happened? Or is the rider holding back on purpose?
Sounds like an F1 car
Quite a lower pitch than most sports/superbikes, I like
