This E92 M3 Has Been Given A Corvette Z06 V8 And We're Not Even Mad
If you want a significant boost in power from your E9x-generation M3, you have to accept it’s going to be an expensive journey. Why? Because realistically, it’s going to involve a turbo or supercharger kit.
Or alternatively, if you’re particularly unhinged, there’s always the option of binning the original 4.0-litre S65 N/A V8 and dropping in a different engine that’s already supercharged. Like a General Motors LT4.
Sounds mad, but someone’s actually done it. Craig of Birmingham-based Dyno Torque did actually have a supercharger on his M3, but he wasn’t a fan of the power delivery. So, he went about installing same kind of 6.2-litre engine found in the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro ZL1 and Cadillac CTS-V. It’s also available as a crate engine, making sourcing one for this build much easier.
The engine is still stock at present, but with 650bhp and 650lb ft of torque on offer, it’s not exactly lacking in the firepower department.
What do you think of this curious engine swap, CTzens? Is powering one of Bavaria’s finest with some American muscle sacrilege of the highest order, or spectacularly awesome? Let us know in the comments!

My dream car ruined!
Not a fan of v8’s, and this is just my opinion.
(I like the 335i’s n54 more anyway)
Meh, sounds like a joke…
But if the owner likes it, I can’t do anything about it
Aah I see it’s the same place where the S85 E46 was shot! https://youtu.be/NZ5w5YvrSKs
I wish the new M3 had a v8 . . .
I’m… actually liking this despite being a BMW owner.
The M engines in the last few generations of BMW, are high strung and brilliantly engineered engines, however VANOS issues / rod bearing issues show up some inherent weaknesses within the design.
The LS/ LT series are built to go for miles and miles, and ok they’re a bit more agrcultural compared to BMW’s offering.. but when there’s LS engines running around with easily north of 1000bhp without much trouble. and 800 on stock engines with only head changes and a cam swap is a doddle.. what’s giving more bang for your wallet?
As someone said, yes with turbos and remap and a bearing replacement / bottom end work , the S65 can make 700bhp, question is how long for?
The LT series will make that all day long, and with probably a remap, some free flowing exhausts and a pulley swap, would probably jump to 8-900bhp without breaking a sweat and all you’d need to worry about is oil changes and regular servicing. Considerably less than the S65 costs with a turbo kit.
Just saying horses for courses, and which gives you more ‘bang for your buck’
I’m mad though.
Before I would swap an old low tech engine in it, I would buy an 335i and tune it to 700+ Hp..
Sarilege…
As a BMW lover I think that is really cool, I also love American muscle cars and they have some good engines!! He wants to have a different M3 and I think he got a really badass one now.
I wanna see how it pulls!! I feel the sound and look of the car matches nicely,
