Even The Porsche 918 Spyder Isn't Immune To A Dreaded Recall

2014 has been the year of the recall. We’re all well aware of the fact GM alone has recalled millons of vehicles, but it’s not the only one.

It has emerged that Porsche has been forced to recall 45 918 Spyders worldwide after it discovered that the rear axle control arms could break under heavy loads, like when driving hard on track. According to the recall notice in America, “If the control arms break, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.”

On June 26th, 2014, Porsche was undertaking high speed circuit testing of the 918 Spyder at Nardo, Italy. A control arm broke, and after being sent away to a laboratory for testing it was determined the part needed to be replaced. All customers were contacted directly, and all parts have since been inspected.
