The Facelifted Porsche 911 GT3 Is Here And It Has A Manual Gearbox
Missed out on the exclusive 911 R? We have some good news. As has been suspected for some time now, the refreshed 911 GT3 has one of those wobbly sticks we love so much poking out between the seats.
And that’s not the only change of note. The old 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six - which was subject to a recall early in the 991 GT3’s life - is gone, replaced with a 4.0-litre unit. It revs to a spine-tingling 9000rpm, a touch higher than in the 4.0-litre-equipped GT3 RS.
It puts out 493bhp, making 0-62mph possible in 3.4 seconds with the seven-speed PDK automatic gearbox fitted. Go for the manual, and you’re looking at 3.9 seconds. We’ll happily take the drop in acceleration for the chance of driving a 493bhp manual Porsche, thanks. The manual is slightly faster at the top end, too - it’ll do 200mph, where the PDK manages a paltry 199mph.
Porsche has also had a little fiddle with the aero package. The front end has been redesigned for better airflow, while at the back end there’s a new diffuser and carbonfibre rear wing.
There’s no word on pricing just yet, but expect to pay somewhere in the region of £110,000.
