Fancy A Mercedes AMG GT? You'll Need At Least £97,195
If - like us - you’ve been incessantly drooling over the new Mercedes-AMG GT since it was revealed last September, you’ve probably been wondering just how much this slice of gorgeous Merc will set you back. Well, now’s the time to stop wondering, as official UK prices are with us: you’ll need £97,195 for the 456bhp GT, £110,495 for the 503bhp GT S, and £122,745 for the ‘GT S Edition 1’. For the extra cash, the Edition 1 gets you a carbonfibre roof, a fixed rear wing, high-gloss silver and black wheels, and several other visual tweaks inside and out.
These prices put the GT S in the firing line of the Porsche 911 Turbo, which for £120,598 will give you 513bhp from a 3.8-litre flat-six and four-wheel drive to play with. Assuming the new Audi R8 is priced similarly to the current one (£93,735 for the V8 and £114,835 for the V10), that’ll be a close competitor to both the GT and GT S too. The £83,340, 542bhp Jaguar F-Type R coupe, meanwhile, is more powerful and cheaper than both of the new Mercs.
Order books are open in the UK today, with the first examples of the Edition 1 and GT S arriving in April 2015. The GT will be on its way at the latter end of 2015.
