Fast And Furious 8 Filming Has Already Killed A Horse
The eighth instalment of the Fast And Furious franchise is currently being filmed in Iceland and the team have already run into horse-sized trouble. According to Metro UK, the production team were filming a sequence on the Lake Mývatn when one of their fake styrofoam icebergs blew away in heavy winds, indirectly killing a horse called Jupiter.
Reports vary on how the horse was injured - TMZ have reported Jupiter was hit directly, while Metro UK have outlined that the horse ran into a lava field where it ended up breaking a leg - but regardless of how it happened, the break was so severe that the horse had to be euthanised.
According to TMZ, the production team have contacted Jupiter’s owner and have agreed to cover the cost of the damage, but we can’t imagine that the incident will do the team’s relationship with Iceland’s Environment Agency any good. Iceland Review have reported that the team were granted a special permit for filming in the protected area.
If everything goes to plan, and Toretto’s team don’t get themselves into any more trouble, we can expect a release date of April 14th 2017.
