Fast And Furious Spin-Off Featuring Dwayne Johnson And Jason Statham In The Works
To put it mildly, the Fast and Furious franchise is quite the moneymaker. The series has gone from strength to strength at the box office, with the eighth installment - The Fate of the Furious - breaking various records upon its opening.
With that in mind, it’s perhaps not all that surprising that distributor Universal Pictures is reportedly mulling over a spin-off. According to Deadline, the proposed spin-off would focus on Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) forming an “unlikely alliance” with assassin and general sociopath Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). Whether or not viewers will be able to cope with such a concentrated hit of testosterone in one film, we’ll have to wait and see.
Deadline’s sources said that Chris Morgan - screenwriter for every F&F film from Tokyo Drift onwards - will be on scripting duties, but other than that, details are very limited at this stage.
Would you watch a film focusing on this conspicuously macho pair?

When your movies are so weird that you start making your own competition.
Still a better love story than Twilight.
Wow, looking at the comments, a lot of guys don’t like mindless action movies anymore. Die Hard, Transporter, James Bond, etc. Are these F&F movies not the same? Remember when the first couple F&F movies came out? And everyone thought they were ridiculous? Now they’re cult classics and people regard them as fun action movies that you watch without analyzing the plot but just enjoying the action, cars, and cheesy acting. People are saying “it’s time to stop” and “this is ridiculous” but really ask yourself: what’s wrong with a mindless action movie with two actors that are fun to watch on screen? Are you telling me if a movie came out with Jason Statham and The Rock kicking ass and blowing stuff up, you WOULDN’T go watch it?
It would be nice if they would make a good or almost perfect movie again. And when there have been enough movies in a series, just stop it and start something from scrap. Like Transporter.
Because people will start to get annoyed by the easy plan of moviemakers with big explosions.
More and more furious, and less and less fast
Nothing is stopping these boys from earning millions with doing the same stuff over and over again. Then again … so does an F1 driver
I didn’t mind 8, but it just didn’t seem like a fast and furious movie. The movie itself wasn’t bad but just way different then what is was. As much as I’ll continue to watch these movies when the make them, they should of stopped at 7 just mainly because they ended it literally perfectly. But we’ll see how 9 and 10 will be.
From F&F to T&R
The Transporter and the Rock.
Well, (sigh) looks like we are going to space
In 10 years it’s gonna be, “The Frail and the Furious”.
