5. 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 in *John Wick Chapter 2* (2017)

Five Car Destruction Scenes in Movies that Made Car Guys Cry #MovieBlog

In the opening scene for the 2nd John Wick, our main character played by Keanu Reeves comes back for his beloved Mustang which was stolen in the first film. Surprisingly, he doesn’t mind beating the crap out of it in epic chase that takes place in a warehouse full of bad guys and fake taxis. It’s painful to watch this beautiful car being almost completely wrecked, although there’s a chance it might come back. It’s mentioned that John’s Boss 429 will be repaired by Christmas… in 2030.

4. Aston Martin DB4 in *Italian Job* (1969)

Five Car Destruction Scenes in Movies that Made Car Guys Cry #MovieBlog

Oh, boy. There were so many awesome cars wrecked in this classic film, but one of the most memorable scenes involves a beautiful silver Aston Martin DB4 being smashed and then thrown off the mountain. If you love classic cars it will definitely hit you right in the feels. What’s interesting, the film producers (thankfully) didn’t wreck an actual Aston. Instead they used a heavily modified Lancia Flaminia disguised as DB4. But still, it’s quite painful to watch

3. Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor in *Gone in 60 Seconds* (2000)

If you’ve seen the 2000 remake of Gone in 60 Seconds starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie, you can’t forget that scene where Eleanor gets scrapped after the most spectacular chase in this film. It literally felt like they’ve killed one of the main characters. Even though it wasn’t a real Eleanor, I nearly cried when I saw it being destroyed.

2. Aston Martin DBS in *Quantum of Solace* (2008)

Five Car Destruction Scenes in Movies that Made Car Guys Cry #MovieBlog

Even now, nearly 8 years after I saw this movie for the first time, I still hate the opening chase scene. Why? First, you have to understand one thing. When I was 12, I used to be a DBS fanboy. I genuinely loved this car and I could talk all day about how awesome it is. Now imagine watching Spider-Man losing his legs or Indiana Jones having his nose cut off. That’s exactly how I felt during that scene where Aston had it’s doors ripped off. I was genuinely mad. And to be honest I still am, because unlike in previously mentioned movies, in Quantum of Solace they didn’t damage props or replicas - 12 brand new Aston Martins in a perfect condition were sacrificed for this one stupid chase that lasts roughly 5 minutes.

1. Porsche Carrera GT in *Redline* (2007)

Five Car Destruction Scenes in Movies that Made Car Guys Cry #MovieBlog

Although most of the supercars wrecked in this atrocious Fast and Furious rip off were poor replicas, the silver Carrera GT was real. According to Daniel Sadek, director of this sh░tty movie, he decided to destroy this $500,000 hypercar because “he didn’t like it”. If that didn’t make you mad enough, there was also a red Ferrari Enzo which was accidentally crashed by Eddie Griffin.

By the way, if you’ve never heard about Redline before, here’s a great review of this awful film done by Tavarish. It’s basically The Room for petrolheads.

All the supercars from Need For Speed were replicas built on a space game with about half the power and a 10th the value

I forget what James Bond movie, but he should have been fired after this scene
Q: “Agent Double O7! I asked you to bring that Aston Martin back in one piece! Not a piece of it! (Chuckles)”

Michael R. T. Jensen

Just going to throw this out there, but the Mustang from John Wick 2 was a Mach 1, not a Boss of any designation.

I remember that in the first movie it was described as Boss 429.

i hate every car scene in the new fast and furious, they wreck so many rare and beautiful cars. When I saw it in the cinema when the toyota 86 driven by scott eastwood got wrecked I yelped and all my friends said ‘its just a car, whats wrong mate? ‘ Some people will never understand ;(

Considering GT86’s price they could’ve sacrificed a real car. However, it was hard to tell if AMG GTS and Letty’s Vette were real or CG in this scene where they got flipped over..

The red ‘zombie car’? Yeah i remember watching that and internally laughing, before internally breaking down after watching a Murcielago fall out of a building and Dom’s 71 Plymouth (one of my all time favorite cars) get torn apart in that stupid 5 way tug of war
