Ford's Flat Rock Mustang Plant Just Closed Down For A Week After A Sales Plunge
While us UK petrolheads still can’t get enough of the Mustang, the car isn’t doing so well Stateside. In fact, last month the car suffered a 32 per cent drop in sales across the pond, leading Ford to stop production of the pony car at its Flat Rock plant in Michigan.
Before you panic though, we are talking about a temporary halt of just a week, to make sure production meets demand. Responding to the news, a Ford spokesperson told Detroit News: “We continue to match production with demand…Mustang remains the top seller in its segment in total and retail sales.”
So, no huge cause for concern, but what’s interesting is the Chevrolet Camaro outsold the Mustang last month for the first time in nearly two years, thanks to the arch rival pony car enjoying an 25 per cent boost in sales while the ‘Stang faltered. Although it’s not quite as simple as that since year-to-date Camaro sales are actually down 11 per cent, making Chevrolet’s coupe two per cent worse off than Ford’s. It’ll be interesting to see where the pony car sales war goes from here…

Could be worse! It’s just a week!
Should mention that a facelifted version is coming soon, not saying it accounts for the 32% drop but a decrease should be expected.
In other news we saw a decline in pedestrian injury/death this week

They close the plant because Ford was tired of losing its reputation by the mustang running people over.
The bass dropped and so mustang sales did ;)
