Ford's New 700bhp Supercharger Conversion Takes The Fight To The Dodge Challenger Hellcat
Ford and Roush Performance have engineered a mouth-watering supercharger upgrade for the 2018 Mustang and F-150 truck. Brace for much power.
Both use Ford’s latest 5.0-litre V8 and have space for the supercharger bolt-on. The numbers are quite juicy, too. In the F-150 the engine is forced up to 640bhp and 600lb ft of torque, while Mustang rear tyres are going to be very afraid: the output in the famous pony car is a monstrous 700bhp and 610lb ft at 12psi of boost.
That puts it right in the mix with the Dodge Challeger Hellcat, which just has a few more horses. We wondered whether Ford would develop a weapon to fight Dodge with, seeing as Hennessey has already set itself up with a Dodge Demon-fighting Camaro called The Exorcist.
Designed specifically to work with the new engine’s combination of port and direct-injection fuelling, the power output with the upgrades applies to both manual and automatic cars. There’s no indication that either gearbox is too weak to handle the extra force.
The kit comes with everything needed to install it apart from tools and expertise. Get a Ford dealer to do it and you’ll keep your warranty, too.
It will go on sale early next year through Ford dealers, Ford Performance Warehouse distributors and Roush Performance dealers.

It takes $20 to control 1 extra hp from the engine. AKA, upgraded suspension and brakes wouldn’t hurt.
you can pair it with the Perfomance Pack Level 2, tho
Too little too late it’s not just about horsepower besides (and I love mustangs) Chevy is putting together a much better looking total packing including more exciting drive trains then mustang and better suspension for the camaro and soon to be the corvette
The hellcat might make a bit more power, but it also weighs 850 pounds more.
So, if I’m understanding this correctly, Ford is selling a kit, not selling it already installed and a SVO model or something. So it’s not truely a competitive, factory built car.
They don’t know if the transmission can hold the extra power? Well, add in another several big ones for when your gearbox grenades under your legs and you have to replace both the tranny and your legs.
The difference is a Hellcat engine is design built to take a daily street/dragstrip beating. A bolt on supercharger on a stock Mustang engine is not.
The engine in the mustang was built to have a supercharger added. Idk about the rest specifically the half shafts but the mustang is a built for the aftermarket
[Crowd-killing instinct intensifies]
Ford really doing special things. I like all these options they are doing
Making the cars interesting again.
I won’t have to wait for the GT500 anymore.
