Forza Motorsport’s Devs Are Finally Fixing Outdated Car Models
Forza Motorsport had a rocky launch, but to give credit to developers Turn 10, the game has slowly been coming into its own following a consistent string of updates. One of the biggest gripes we had with the game, its plethora of outdated and inaccurate car models, has remained though. However, this looks to be changing.
Turn 10 hasn’t put any official statement out declaring the second coming of the new car models, or given any timeframes, but keen-eyed users of the game’s official forums have spotted some stealthy announcements.
In particular, a thread from a user highlighting the inaccuracies of the in-game recreation of the S15 Nissan Silvia – perhaps the poster child of how bad some of Forza’s car models are by modern standards – has been closed. The reason given by a Forza Support representative is that “we will be rebuilding this car in the future”.
It’s not just the S15 which will be remodelled, apparently. Similar threads for the E30 BMW M3, Dodge Viper ACR, FD Mazda RX-7 and R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R among plenty of others have also been left with the same message.
Let’s not get too excited just yet. We know modelling a car for a current-gen game takes a long time – with Gran Turismo developers Polyphony Digital saying it takes them around 270 days from start to finish – so it could be a while before we see any fruits of Turn 10’s labour.
It’s also unclear if the new models will come to the current iteration of Forza Motorsport, or be held back for a future title. Presumably, they’ll want them done in time for Forza Horizon 6 which will surely crop up within the next year or two.
Credit where it’s due, though. Turn 10 has clearly been listening to its rather vocal community and we’ll hopefully end up with a more polished product as a result.
