Futuristic Racing Game 'Formula Fusion' Is Coming Soon
Formula Fusion is shaping up to be quite an exciting racing game using a cross between traditional F1 cars and futuristic hovercraft. If you experienced the WipEout games, you already know what these guys are capable of producing. After Sony shut down Studio Liverpool in 2012, WipEout fans were left believing they would never see another game in the series. Fortunately, a handful of employees decided to form their own studio to release what would have been the next game in the series.
The Formula Fusion game will likely be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC by the third quarter of 2015. The studio hopes to keep up with the evolving video game industry by encouraging team racing and social interaction on these next-gen consoles. The game is visually different from traditional racers, which will entice some gamers who are not typically interested in driving games. For classic racing fans, there is a lot of room for customisation and team tactics.
‘These guys are literally plugged into the action, absorbing race data and passing it to the team techies. The way you race will influence your team’s research performance and the enhancements available for your craft! Aggression, speed, tactics - the path is up to you. You and your craft will become one!’

The studio plans to begin a fundraiser on Kickstarter soon, but from 11th November until 11th December it’s offering up shares to the public. A total of 300 shares will be available to purchase at a cost of £300 each. The shares will make up 10 per cent of the company’s equity, and shareholders will earn a portion of company profits starting next December when it begins issuing annual dividends.
If you’re unsure about the game, head over to the R8 Games website starting next Tuesday and sign up for the Test Pilot Programme. Participants will not only get to try out the game before anyone else, but they will also receive a 25 per cent discount on the early release of the game in June, 2015.
We want to know your impressions of futuristic racers like this. Do anti-gravity races have a place in the future of driving games or is it all a bunch of hype?
