Gamers Can Instantly Race Any Car They Want In Project Cars: Does This Defeat The Object Of Racing Games For You?

In a recent interview, creative director Andy Tudor proudly announced that Project Cars would be released with all its content available to gamers from day one. He explained that the team at Slightly Mad Studios agreed nothing should stand in the way of a genuine racing fan immediately getting into the car they wanted when purchasing their game.

Tudor also pointed out that there are plenty of racing games on the market where you begin with a slow, inexpensive car and have to win races or complete challenges to upgrade. He feels that today’s racing gamers are older, and they have better things to do than dedicate hours to a game just to play it in the way they want.

With the more mature crowd of racers comes more skill. Project Cars creators think that there is no reason why seasoned racers should have to ‘prove’ themselves worthy of a decent vehicle. If you want to hop straight into a Ford GT40 and give it hell, go ahead. Tudor says this is the way racing games were meant to be enjoyed.

“…you decide who to drive for, you decide your path, and you decide what your ultimate goal is. So get ready, your journey is about to begin.”

Immediately following the announcement, critics have voiced their opinion on the matter. Some believe having access to all the vehicles and modifications will take away the sense of achievement or feeling of reward. Others say players will lose interest in the game much faster if they are not forced to work for the upgrades.

In the Career mode you are free to choose any motorsport and begin racing under your first contract. If you perform well, you could be scouted by other teams or receive endorsements from companies that want to be represented by you. If you crave the challenge of working your way up from the bottom, go after the Zero to Hero achievement by starting with Karting races and winning your way to the top.
