Geneva 2012: Lamborghini Aventador J Roadster Has No Windscreen
Yes, you heard that right. Lamborghini have just taken the covers off their special Roadster, based on a sport-bike, dubbed the Aventador J.
Yes, you heard that right. Lamborghini have just taken the covers off their special Roadster, based on a sport-bike, dubbed the Aventador J.
Where do we start? Well minus the lack of a windscreen, Lamborghini have been kind enough to fit wind deflectors onto the vehicle with the Italian Bulls keen to stress that this will be a road-legal car. A lot has been taken out in keeping with weight-saving such as climate control, radio and air conditioning to name but a few.
But why would you want to listen to the Top 40 run-down when you could get a sound blasting from the same 700 horsepower 6.5-litre V12 you can find in a standard Aventador? Looking performance straight in the face, the "J" will be able to hit speeds of over 186mph, and so you better be wearing a helmet unless you want a face full of feathers.
As well as utilising carbon fibre in places you would expect to find it, such as the rear diffuser, winglets and front air scoop, Lamborghini is keen to stress the use of "Carbonskin" in the manufacture of the J, which is a new type of fabric developed by the company which is soft to use on the inside for seat linings and interior trim.
From what we've heard, the car is set to dent your wallet at over £2,000,000 but rest assured, it's unlikely that us mere mortals will ever get the chance to get near one as they are all likely to be snapped up by Lambo fanboys, like the Sesto Elementos. Just when you thought the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss was a complete novelty act.
As Lamborghini stands for all things "magnifico" it only makes sense to me that they produce a car equally as bonkers. The Aventador J seems to have achieved this in bucketloads. And according to Winkelmann this won't be the last of the crazy cars from Italy, "at Lamborgini we make dreams come true and we we want to continue doing this in the future". Amen to that, brother.
