Get A Load Of The New Porsche 911 Speedster's Incredible Details
You can sum up most cars fairly well in four to five pictures. A front three-quarter, a rear three-quarter, an interior shot, perhaps a side-on - that’s generally all you need. But, the new 911 Speedster concept is no ordinary car.
Built by Porsche as a 70th birthday present for itself, it’s a “road-ready study” which is almost certainly heading for limited-production. And with so many incredible details to pore over, we can only do this thing justice by spamming you with pictures. Sorrynotsorry.
The engine and chassis are lifted from the 911 GT3. That means a fat rear axle, a track-friendly suspension setup and a 4.0-litre, naturally-aspirated flat-six that’s good for 493bhp. That makes it a far more serious car than previous Speeders - the 997 version, for instance, was based on a 911 GTS.
The body, on the other hand, has been pinched from the Carrera 4 Cabriolet, albeit with extensive modifications. The wings, bonnet and the retro ‘double bubble’ rear deck are all made from carbonfibre, the windows are shorter, and the windscreen is more heavily raked.
There’s no electric folding roof, with the Speedster relying instead on a simple, lightweight tonneau cover for when the heavens open.
And now we get to the best bits: the details. Do the “Talbot shape” wing mirrors put the Speedster a little close to retro pastiche territory? We’ll let you thrash that one out in the comments, but they look to be beautifully made. They’re teamed up with other cool features including fuel filler cap slap bang in the middle of the bonnet, milled, gold-plated Speedster badging and much more besides.
Have a gawp at the following pictures, and pray that this thing gets built…

Didn’t they reveal this like nearly a week ago?
Damn CT back at it again with the late posting
Internet explorer is faster than this
Late on Friday, and unlike a lot of releases from manufacturers, we didn’t get this one ahead of time. It’s a cool car so we wanted to put some pictures up, even if we’re a few days late ;)
Did someone say quirks?

Get my marriage papers ready!
It’s perfect
Is this a crossover?
I think those mirrors should be an option on all 911 (the wheels too). Unfortunately I doubt they’ll make it to the production version (which probably will be made since there are test mules)
Anyone else think it would be a huge pain in the a$$ to fill it up due to that filler cap placement. It looks cool, but is super impractical
Hahaha funny guy. I doubt many of the owners would actually drive it unfortunately, so it’ll probably only get filled up twice in its life. It deserves to be driven, but the majority will probably be locked into a temperature controlled dry storage garage with a drip charger.
Is there any information about the transmition?
Like is it gonna be PDK-only or will there be a manual option (not like I could afford this in any way)
Manual, you can see that they have statically made the pictures so that the shiftlever is not visable. So they are hiding something special
