Good Guy Infiniti Will Race This Q50 In BTCC For A Good Cause
Infiniti has taken the unusual - and commendable - decision to set up a not-for-profit race team to compete in next year’s BTCC. The new team hopes to raise awareness and funds for Support Our Paras, the British Parachute Regiment’s official charity, which looks after injured paratroopers and their families. In addition, a number of injured paras will join the team to prepare the cars and work on them over the race weekends.
The team will run two cars built to the Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) regulations, which means a production-based racer powered by a 300bhp 2.0-litre turbo four-pot. One will be driven by Richard Hawken and the other Derek Palmer Jnr, although the team’s long-term plan is to guide an injured paratrooper through the motorsport ranks to eventually race one of the BTCC machines.
