Good News, Honda Fanboys: The Next Civic Type-R Gets A 280bhp Turbocharged 2.0
Honda has revealed images of the new Civic Type-R undergoing testing at its in-house test track in Tochigi, Japan.
The car is camouflaged, however it is clear that the new model will gain aggressive styling over the standard model. The most obvious addition is that huge rear wing, however we're more excited by the squared-off arches that make this look like a DTM racer on a diet.
What makes this new Type-R so interesting, though, is that it will take its pick of Honda's new range of engines. Of the three powerplants on offer, the hot hatch will receive the 2-litre, four-pot turbo engine, which is expected to produce more than 280bhp. Power will be accessed through a manual gearbox, which should get purists aroused even if the engine's growl doesn't.
The Type-R will hit showrooms in 2015, taking advantage of Honda's return to Formula 1 in the same year.
