Green Light Given For Two Formula E Races In London This Summer
Motorsport fans in the UK, take note. Formula E has secured planning permission for two ePrix races to take place this June in London.
The inaugural Formula E season will conclude with a double header around the stunning grounds of Battersea Park, located along the banks of the River Thames in South London.
The 15-turn, 2.92km circuit will host rounds 10 and 11 of the 2014/2015 Formula E season on the 27 and 28 June, adding an additional race to the calendar.
Securing permission and designing the track has taken months of planning. The layout will use the Carriage Drive roads around the beautiful park, and will include a mix of long straights, high-speed bends and slow chicanes.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said:
“Formula E is set to be a superb addition to London’s sporting calendar. The atmosphere will quite literally be electric and Battersea, which is already booming with the buzz of regeneration, will be alive with the excitement that this new, world-class event will no doubt spark.”
Preparation works on the Battersea Park track will begin next month. The next Formula E round takes place in Miami on the 14 March.
