This Guy Bought A $3400 E65 BMW 745i: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
We’ve been following the curious and, um, bold car buying decisions of Tyler Hoover for a little while now. When the YouTuber bought himself a $6100 Cayenne Turbo - the cheapest working turbocharged Porsche for sale in the USA at the time - we weren’t sure that kind of madness could be topped, but the man’s managed it with a fabulously complicated E65 BMW 7-series. That cost just $3400.
The E65 is a car of firsts for BMW, and not necessarily good ones: it was the first car from the Bavarian manufacturer to sport Chris Bangle’s much maligned ‘flame surfacing’, and the first to receive iDrive. Sure, iDrive is pretty much the best car infotainment interface going now, but it was hilariously clunky in its earlier iterations, as demonstrated in this video.
Hoover’s E65 thankfully doesn’t exhibit the potentially fatal timing chain tensioner and valve seal issues that are common for the era, but it does have an amusing array of warning lights littered across the dash. And a stereo that inadvertently produces its own glitchcore remixes.
We’ll be watching this one with interest…

“Tyler bought the most expensive Toyota Corolla…for $500,000?”
I heard OJ’s Bronco is up for sale…
Well, I’m sure the blinkers will still be working
I think they were in option at the time
Do beemers have turn signals?
Considering it’s a decade old, it’s not that bad, but it still looks like a beached whale.
it does hahah
$3400 BMW 7 series with no blinker fluids and working blinkers?
This is wrong
It is an i-series car, so it most likely won’t die.
I lost it at 8:59
Maybe this is how this happened?

I don’t think it’ll be as bad honestly compared to his S600.
