This Guy Outbid A Fallen Sheriff's Son For His Cop Car, Then Handed Over The Keys

On Thursday, the cop car used by a sheriff who died in the line of duty five years ago was put up for auction. The officer's son raised the cash for the car, but was outbid - fortunately the guy who won handed him the keys

Deputy Sam Brownlee of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado was killed after a police chase in 2010. On Thursday, his car was put up for auction to raise money for COPS, an organisation that helps families of officers killed in the line of duty.

Brownlee’s son, Tanner, had taken to fundraising site GoFundMe to raise money to purchase the car, however when the bidding reached $60,000 he was forced to pull out. With the bidding over, a local rancher stepped forward to take the keys, however he immediately handed them over to Tanner.

You’ve got have a huge amount of respect for this guy, who was a complete stranger to the family. He raised a lot of money for a great cause, and ensured the squad car stayed in the family. Legend!
