This Guy Put A GoPro Inside His Tyre
When admiring your parked-up car, the tyres will probably seem pretty solid. There’s a lot of stiffness in the sidewall of modern rubber, but make no mistake - when in motion and holding up a tonne or two of car, there’s a lot of flex going on.
Slow-motion motorsport footage provides a great look at just how much tyres shift around under load, but going one step further, YouTube channel Warped Perception decided to put a camera inside the (nearly bald, it must be said) hoop of a Mercedes E55 AMG.
Mounted on the rim was a GoPro Hero 7, a light, and an external battery pack. The profile of the tyre was just about tall enough to accommodate the camera, with the resulting footage giving a rarely seen view of what your boots are up to on the move.
Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

This guy has a workshop, with his own tire changing equipment and he’s driving his AMG around on bald tyres. Frightening!
That being said, the video inside a tyre idea was a really impressive and insightful look into how our rubber behaves on the road…
I have been subscribed to him for a very long time and the stuff he does with engines is quite interesting to say the least, I mean hes no Garage54 which takes the craziness scale and cranks it to “THIS IS SPARTA!!!” levels of madness but he does a great job of explaining stuff and making you understand what goes on inside things!
