This Guy’s ‘Missing’ Ford Focus RS Has Been Located
Given that it’s the first RS-badged Ford to ever be officially sold in North America, it’s no surprise that a lot of people across the pond are pretty excited about the hottest version of the Focus. However, one American Ford Focus RS buyer isn’t quite so happy.
We were sent the story via Medium this week, written by the disgruntled customer himself - Kevin Flynn. After putting his order in on 12 October 2015, he was given a rather ambitious delivery estimate of January. A January delivery didn’t happen, not that this surprised Flynn, but the problems started in February when production was shut down for several weeks for all RSs to sort several issues. Nothing particularly unusual given that the RS is pretty much an all-new design that’s packed full of tech, and Flynn was told his car would be shipped on late April.
Flynn and members of several Focus forums even tracked the boat holding the car as it made its way over to the States, but it was upon arrival to the USA that things got interesting:
“My car was unloaded in Newark, New Jersey on May 6th and that is the last time I’ve heard anything. Seriously. It has now been 10 weeks since my car has been unloaded and I don’t have it. I don’t know what it’s doing at the docks. Ford won’t tell me. I don’t know when it will be delivered. Ford won’t tell me. Ford told all RS owners to start contacting Ford Service on Facebook (seriously), who are outsourced customer support who read off scripts.”
Keen to find out more, we dropped Ford a line. The good news is, it looks like Flynn’s ‘missing’ RS has now been located, as a Ford spokesperson has told us that the customer has been given the location and a much more accurate delivery estimate. The delays at the port meanwhile were put down to “necessary quality/safety checks.” The spokesperson added “Ford’s recommendation to RS customers is to contact the dealer to get more accurate delivery information,” something all RS buyers should be able to do simply using the vin number - although the spokesperson did point out that this can only be done once construction starts, which is when the vin number is issued.
As for Flynn, we’re not sure why the dealer had so many issues finding the car, but from the sounds of it he’ll be enjoying the delights of 345bhp and Drift Mode very soon.

Engage Ken Block mode!
That must have been a huge ConFUSION about where his Focus went. But I guess Ford’s employees were not FOCUSing on doing their jobs
Why the hell did he lose a focus rs
Hey guys, can you remember the order of a Ford GT by Jeremy Clarkson years ago? Ford also messed up that time?!
Truedat
They alsp delivered a car that scored horribly on reliablity
vin number
“vehicle identification number number”
on a side note why do people think that god-awful and very stale puns on Ford model names are still funny?
because they are……..
Stay Focused and you’ll see why…
is no one going to comment on the EXPEDITION that this car has embarked on? I guess it must be time for a FIESTA
The Kevin Flynn? Or is it not the one from the movie?
Forgot this one (not sure if someone did it already): I guess you could say it was lost in TRANSIT.
*all heads slowly turn to Clarkson’s GT
How can one lose a car at docks? It’s not like it has been sent off to the GALAXY, that would have been difficult
Well, the human race can lose a plane. I’m not impressed by a car, I’m just sad it’s a Ford Focus RS and not a Prius they lost.
