Hamilton And Rosberg's Last Lap Crash Was The Most Stupid Thing In Recent F1 Times
Hamilton went on to win the race after the contact, while Rosberg fell to fourth place. The Mercedes duo were separated by just a few tenths in the closing stages, with Hamilton trying a pass around the outside at Turn 2 on the final lap.
Rosberg had a poor exit from Turn 1 but left a lot of space on the inside. He appeared to brake too late and turned in late, colliding with Hamilton. The German’s front wing was damaged and went under the car, causing him to lose positions.
The Mercedes team bosses were understandably furious. Rosberg claimed he had brake issues and said that Hamilton turned in on him, but looking back at the footage, we’re not so sure!
Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen moved ahead to second and third, with Rosberg finishing fourth, while Daniel Ricciardo crossed the line in fifth with Jenson Button behind him in sixth. The British driver qualified third and held second early on before losing ground in the pitstops.
Both the collision and Rosberg continuing with a damaged car are under investigation by the stewards.
Sebastian Vettel failed to finish after a dramatic tyre failure on his Ferrari, which pitched him into the inside barrier on the main straight.
Update:
Rosberg was handed a 10-second time penalty for the contact with Hamilton, but he retains fourth place. He was also given a reprimand and two penalty points on his license for driving his damaged car to the finish line.

Damn it would have been awesome if they were both out so Verstappen could win his second race, that would have been something special😱😊
To everyone taking one side: they were both at fault.
They are both still racing for championship. Rosbergs point lead isn’t so big yet. If their team lets their drivers race each other they’ll race each other.
Also, it’s front wing :)
WTF “Hamilton shouldn’t think about overtaking his teammate”? So what’s the point of racing then we should just decide who wins from qualifying?
Jesus the commentator in the first clip is so bad…
Wow this webstie has some butt-hurt Hamilton fans writing its articles doesn’t it?
Not a word on Canada earlier this year or Rosberg’s brake problem. Please, someone edit these articles we don’t need stupid things like this.
Canada was a legit move by Lewis, He made the Apex as normal and squeezed rosberg on Exit as you are allowed to do. This move, Rosberg didn’t even attempt to make the apex, Hamilton gave him as much room as he possibly could. Rosberg turned in way too late and once again the speed difference caught him out.
The Stewards seem to disagree with your opinion
It’s the pressure that makes you do that,
Last lap, trying to gaurd your position, 1st position.
Pressure…
On another note, drive of the day- Jenson or Wehrlein?
Pascal ftw!
I think people are being a little bit harsh on Rosberg, he obviously tried to defend his position(not the best try after all), but it’s racing, people make mistakes, today Rosberg made the mistake….but the way people attack him is a little bit unfair when Hamilton does one of those moves, he’s the best, he puts his teammate under pressure. Not a fan of Mercedes or any of their drivers, but I think it’s unfair
So from now on drivers will get penalty points on their license when they drive a car without front wing or with blown tire?
I think for that particular thing he got off with a warning. Imo it’s stupid that they were even investigating that though. For professional racer it’s no problem to keep wingless car under control
Rosberg is a German with a five-year-old’s brain , he accused Lewis of the crash , while there was enough space for a Boeing 747 . He “ breaks “ while under pressure , and i’m telling you , he will not win this Championship.
Rosberg was most at fault in this situation, and yes he has a bad habit of not taking the blame when he is at fault. But that doesn’t mean he won’t win the championship. He have been the better driver this year, and Lewis also have to take alot of penalties because he has used so many of powerunit parts…
Oh boy… Starting to think I shouldn’t have put 20 quid on Rosberg to win the championship.
