Hamilton Is Britain's Richest Sportsman For The Second Year Running
It’s no wonder that Lewis Hamilton can afford so many gold chains; he’s been named Britain’s richest sportsman in The 2015 Sunday Times Rich List for the second year on the trot. The reigning F1 world champ has even increased his wealth by £20 million over the last year, meaning that his lead has grown quite substantially.
The list - which first appeared in 1989 - is based on identifiable wealth, including land, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies. His wealth in the 2015 richlist is £88 million.
Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney is second, just ahead of McLaren F1 driver Jenson Button. Despite a tough start to the year, the 2009 world champion has increased his wealth by £8 million over the last year to £71 million. However, he has still fallen one position compared to 2014.
