Hennessey Won't Put A V8 In The Ford GT, Because It's Not Possible
For those less than impressed with the Ford F-150 Raptor’s switch to 3.5-litre turbo V6 power for the current generation, Hennessey has an answer. The Texan tuner will drop in a supercharged Coyote V8 to create the latest ‘VelociRaptor’, so long as you’re happy to part with $147,950 including the cost of the donor vehicle.
Another Ford that’s caused consternation for some over its loss of a couple of cylinders is the latest GT. It too uses a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, so will Hennessey be ‘doing a VelociRaptor’ with the race-bred supercar? The answer is a resounding ‘no’.
Speaking to Motor Authority company founder and boss John Hennessey - a GT owner himself - said that in his “qualified opinion,” a V8 simply won’t fit. At least, not without dramatic alterations to the bodywork that would completely mess up the aero side of the equation, which for the function-led GT is a bit of an issue.
Having been developed side-by-side with the LMGTE version, the GT fits the description of ‘racing car for the road’ better than pretty much any other supercar. So would you really want to muck around with the formula?
Even if you dropped a big pile of cash at Hennessey’s door, that wouldn’t change the man’s mind. “If a customer came to me with a bag of a million dollars and said, ‘Would you put a V-8 in the back of my Ford GT?’ I won’t do it,” he concluded.

People need to get over the fact it’s no longer a V8, going backwards is not how progress works
It’s Hennessy
What else would you expect
V8>V6 isn’t progress
yeah but putting a smaller (probably less powerful) engine in the GT isn’t how progress works either bud.
I understand why its not possible for this car to accept a V8 engine, its down to how the car is built, it could be done but it would need extensive modifications and lengthening the chassis by a few inches to accept the V8 and the cost to do that would far out weight the profit of keeping it a V6….
Is that enough information?
Isn’t that how Hennessey modified the Lotus Elise to conceive the Venom GT?
Rubbish… obviously it’s possible.
See? Anythings possible! This BRZ with a custom built 2.4L flatplane V8 that revs to to 10k RPM might just be the perfect fit for that car! :D

A set of bigger turbos , an updated intercooler , a set of bigger injectors and bigger pumps and a new exhaust you can make 700 to the ground , so the same power as the new gt500 , powered by a crossplane 5.2, or you can buy a superlite gtr , a finely built ford gt and place basically everything you want, including a coyote a voodoo or even a 427 windsor, for less than a third of the price !
A Rotary will fit
4 rotor confimed?
Yes but you want to make the car better so that’s out of question
Once again, the Miata proves its superiority.
Fancy a V12? No problem.
Who cares?
The new GT should have had a V8 in the first place
Ford: this car had a V6 cos its lighter and more compact. V8 wouldnt even fit.
Hennessey: tries to fit in a V8
Hennessey: it doesnt fit
The GT-40s allways used the F-series engines. Today, it’s the ecoboost, what’re you gonna do…
engine swap on the current Ford GT is the same kind of sin you commit when LS swap an FD3S.
