Here Are Your 14 Best Looking Single-Seater Race Cars
1. Brawn BGP 001
The 2009 aero package wasn’t for everyone but the simple livery complimented the BGP 001 well and made it stand out from the rest. Jenson Button took it to the F1 drivers’ title that year.
2. Maserati 8CTF
How about this for a contender? This is a pre-F1 era single-seater than raced under Grand Prix regulations in 1938. A timeless beauty, don’t you think?
3. McLaren M23
The McLaren M23 had a long history in F1 and took the team to the 1974 title, as well as picking up two drivers’ championships with Emerson Fittipaldi and James Hunt.
4. GPE16 – “JLo”
This was a really cool suggestion – a Formula Student car. In case you don’t know, Formula Student is a competition where universities from all over the world make cars for design competitions.
5. Lotus 72
The Lotus 72 was a beautiful but innovative Colin Chapman design and achieved five F1 world titles – two teams’ championships and three drivers’ crowns.
6. Lotus 98T
The Lotus 98T was raced by the great Ayrton Senna in 1986, with the Brazilian winning two races with it. The car was the last to run in F1 with the black and gold colours of John Player Special.
7. FR2.0/13
The current Formula Renault 2.0 car is a cute but quick looking racer - one of the entry-level single-seater categories. It looks particularly neat in this Force India F1-esque livery.
8. Force India VJM09
Speaking of Force India, the VJM09 is an unusual yet intriguing looking F1 car. It’s currently being raced in F1 by Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg and has become famous for its ‘nostrils’ on the front nose.
9. Lotus 79
Another Lotus on this list, but that’s not surprising: the British marque made some of the most beautiful cars in F1 history in the 60s, 70s and 80s. The 79 was the first F1 car to use full ground effect and won the 1978 titles with Mario Andretti.
10. Arrows A22
The Arrows A22 was a pretty slow car and was one of the worst from the 2001 F1 season, but its striking livery and sleek design made it a beauty.
11. Jordan 197
The Jordan 197 was raced in the 1997 F1 season, as the name suggests. Its yellow colour scheme and sharp exterior design made it arguably the most attractive car on the grid that year.
12. Leyton House CG901
This was an inconsistent F1 car that showed flashes of speed in the late 1980s. It was designed by Adrian Newey and certainly looked great - it’s just a shame it performed so poorly.
13. Mygale M14-F4
The current British F4 car is a smart little single-seater and looks even better in this awesome chrome blue livery.
14. CRG Black Star Kart
So a kart can count as a single-seater race car, right? It’s open wheeled, has one driver and is a highly competitive racing machine. The CRG Black Star chassis looks particularly nimble and mean, for a kart.

Love this
Too many Lotus JPS liveries. They all look the same. Could have been more different liveries.
I guess I should think about changing my name.
Maybe anglicizing it will make things much easier :P
