Here’s How A Formula 1 Hot Lap In 2017 Compares To 2016
Big Formula 1 regulations mean the cars are quicker than ever, as shown in this video comparison of a hot lap of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 2016 and 2017
The two laps being compared are Lewis Hamilton’s 2016 Spanish Grand Prix pole time of a 1:22.000 and Valtteri Bottas’ 1:19.310 from day two of the second F1 winter test.
It’s a great way of seeing just how much quicker the W08 is compared to its predecessor, the W07, and getting a look at how differently the cars handle.
Although it it is worthing pointing out that Hamilton’s lap was on soft tyres, while Bottas did his on new, wider ultra-softs. Still, it’s encouraging to see these new 2017 cars being so much faster.

Finally we see some positive changes in the farce that was F1 regulation in the last years
Anyone else thinking that making the cars a whole lot wider will mean more difficulty overtaking on tracks with the same width?
The cars before 1998 were just as wide . There was overtaking then . The main problem for overtaking in 2017 will be following the cars in front not the width of the car
Monaco will be a disaster
Vettel’s preferred method of overtaking
Yet they still sound horrific
Imo they sound good
The sound is still a bit of a problem, but I have to say it’s way better now than it was in 2014.
If they keep that up maybe the cars will sound like it’s 1988 again some time next year
A step in the right direction, bringing back the speed. Now the only things I’d do to the cars are move the downforce under the car, and take some away from on top of the car. This will make following other drivers much easier. Then I’d make them lighter again, an F1 car shouldn’t way over 700kg. And last but not least I’d but a different engine into them. Yes, we’d all love to see (and hear) the V10’s back, but that would mean two steps back and I don’t think that that would be the right choice. We need to find an engine (or powerunit) that is cheaper, less complicated, has more power and sounds better. I don’t mind it being turbo or hybrid (instant torque yo!). Remember: There are great sounding turbo engines out there (2JZ, RB26 and so on.)
A 2jz, rb26 or anyother woyldn’t be a good base imo plus the fact each team yse their ‘own’ engine
Are you old enough that you’re beyond the phase that you think that you’re old enough?

How to satisfy the people who use carthrottle:

Yes, but how much more fuel do they save? What are the polar bear’s thoughts on this? The people deserve to know JackLeslie🏁 !
Breaking News: FIA tell F1 teams to tune down their engines because they’re too fast!
yep, they’re fast
Breaking News: stickier tires make you faster
And they should make things cheaper by having to design parts to last a lot longer. Less regulations on specifics but heavily limit the amount of replacements per season.
Fast and Furious heard about this. This is why the movies before were way better than this year’s one.
