Here's How The New Ford GT Compares To Its Predecessor
I’m sure most of you know by now that Ford’s new GT has eschewed eight cylinders and supercharger for a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6. But that’s not all that separates the 2017 Ford GT from the 2005 car of the same name.
As shown by Doug DeMuro’s bumper-to-bumper (sorry) examination, there’s a huge difference in way these cars are built, the materials used, the philosophies behind them and how they feel to drive.
The more we think about it, the more we struggle to think of another supercar that’s represented quite such a radical departure from its predecessor. The 2005 GT is a retro-styled homage made from relatively simple ingredients, whereas the 2017 GT is a futuristic tech fest that doesn’t give a damn about the past.
Each has its own appeal, but which would you rather own?

I don’t know. Depends on what I would do with it
Man the GT looks like a spaceship in white
2005 for the win.
Doug : Everything works and it works well
Jeremy C. : Oh yes everything works, especially the anti-theft
It’s hilarious to me that the 2005 GT has the exact same turn signals, mirror adjustment, and wiper controls as my girlfriend’s 2000 Ford Focus….
