A lap of the Nordschleife is always going to come with risks attached, but some people’s shoddy behaviour increases the danger factor considerably. Whether it’s overtaking on the wrong side, leaving bits of car over the track or standing around like an idiot post-crash, some touristenfahrten users are just asking for trouble…

Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

Honestly, these are things that you can tell people not to do and train them not to do, in the driver’s meeting before a track day. When I organize track days, we always teach these sorts of things so people know to avoid them…

The divebomb at 4:19 was unnecessary and stupid. The black BMW would get a black flag, if he did that at one of my track days or racing schools. I’d chat with him and tell him to reconsider how he passes.

Drivers who do not respect the rules like overtaking and yellow flags, do they have fines or something like that ?

As far as I know, it’s not illegal to overtake.
You just have to do it safely and on the left side, as if the Nordschleife was a normal road.

I think it would really help if there would be marshals around the track during Tourist Sessions, even if just for yellow (or black?) flags or calling in accidents/oil spills/debris and dirt on the track.
